Day #15, Mon. 7/16

Today is the Alpha Xi Delta Reunion Potluck Cookout so I will be good all day!  Starting my day off with a Green Smoothie with Organic baby romaine and spinach, some blackberries (was looking for black raspberries but couldn't find them), raspberries, blueberries, banana and a little Greek yogurt. Hmmmm, maybe I'll throw a little pineapple in, too.

This is the BEST tasting smoothie I've made so far.  And I remember thinking my Jr. High Home Ec teacher was cRaZy when we had to make banana milkshakes back in the late 60's early 70's!  I guess she was ahead of the curve.  Maybe NOT with her broiled oranges though!

I had a turkey club on Syrian bread for lunch.

I grilled some zucchini, summer squash and onions for the party. They came out great - I'll have to do more of that this summer. We had fruit salad, potato salad, kale salad, pasta salad, grilled chicken, desserts and lots of other yummy dishes that I'd been looking forward to all day.  Oh I got some hot dogs to splurge!  Nothing like a good dog off the grill! Oooo, mudslides to accompany them!  Nope, we had Ellen Fleming Clark's signature wedding drink instead: Sips Ahoy!  :-) Enjoy your day.

Ended the day with a fun Alpha Xi Delta Reunion Cookout. We set the date for next year - Monday, July 15th. Mark your calendar!   We reminisced, shared lots of stories, took a field trip to Heart Rhythmz Studio & Anahata Gallery and had an evening full of friendship & laughter.  And . . . the food was off the charts!

Day #14, Sun. 7/15

Two weeks since I started my "Back on Track" lifestyle. :-)  Still down 5 pounds and feeling good!
Today I ate a banana and some Ezekiel Cereal with blueberries, raspberries and almond milk.

Very hot today so I caught up on my Blog postings and am ready to tackle my Boston photos now.

We're havin' a Heat Wave and I'm feeling like it's too hot to cook. So I threw together a salad with organic baby romaine, cucumbers, Roma tomatoes, black olives (which I LOVE), carrots, the last of the leftover chicken and heated up the last of the leftover corn on the cob.  I went to Rite Aid to print some of my Tortola flowers to send to the National Park Service who may want to buy them from me and they were having an in-store special with a Wellness card - 15 cents each 4x6 print. Stopped for a quart of watermelon sherbet and a quart of chocolate fudge walnut at Stillwell's Riverwalk on my way home and only had a spoonful of each! :-)  Having the Alpha Xi Delta Reunion Cookout tomorrow so I'm saving my dessert for then.

Day #13, Sat. 7/14

Well, today I was feeling it in my legs after 5 hours of walking around in the heat of the city on Friday!  Guess I could've walked a marathon (okay maybe a half marathon!) I can't really say that they hurt, just felt a l-i-t-t-l-e tight. Did a little stretching, kept up the hydration with lots of fluids, but did a semi-fast today and didn't eat until dinner time when I had left over swordfish and a salad.

I got my Boston photos printed and lucky me ~ Rite Aid was having a 12 cent print sale. Along with my Wellness Card I saved a bundle!  Now I just need to catalog them and make some cards.  Planning for the Hearts & Hands Show that will be coming up in September. Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 13th for the Opening Reception from 5-8:30 p.m.. It's going to be a really good show!

Day #12 Part 2, Fri. 7/13

I met my friend Tyla and her family for lunch at Quincy Market. So good to see them in Boston although the heat and humidity were a deterrent for doing much of anything for the locals never mind  with people who are used to 75° and sunny with no humidity in L.A.!  I got a grilled lamb-kabob sandwich and another bottled water to combat dehydration in the 90° heat!  No photos of the food as we stood/sat outside and the sandwich was kind of drippy/messy, but delicious!  But I do have photos of us. :-)

We spent about an hour together and after dehydrating I headed to the Boston Common and Public Gardens to take more photos. It actually turned into a three hour afternoon of photography for me. It became a little overcast so although it was hot and humid at least there was no hot sun beating down on me.  This also gave way for some great shadowless photos!

I photographed a swan and had a photo in my head that I wanted. You'll see my creation a little later.

I found a few more musicians for my Hearts & Hands Project and one guy was perfect!  I got his hands playing violin and he had a heart around his neck! Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

My favorite!

I went by the Old State House and  the man playing the French Hurdy Gurdy was still there. I took a few more photos with my 55-25mm lens and continued back to the waterfront where I photographed the carousel and some more spots where I had been earlier.

And then my swans . . .  I got the photo just as I had envisioned it!  One single swan that I turned into a beautiful heart!

I left the waterfront and decided to eat an early dinner before heading back to NH on the train so I went to McCormick & Schmick's and sat outside in the shade. Had Shrimp Scampi and being a Shrimp Scampi connoisseur I must say it was some of the BEST I've had!

Got back to North Station and went into the Pro Shop. Jokingly I asked where the ray Allen section was and there really was  a Ray Allen Clearance section in the back! :-(  Didn't get anything but I may pick up a jersey when I go down to Boston laster next week.  I made it on the sold out Downeaster and sat in the CafĂ© Car which had the AC on full blast. Ahhhh, that felt so good after a day in the horrible heat (no Ray Allen pun intended!)
