Day #15, Mon. 7/16

Today is the Alpha Xi Delta Reunion Potluck Cookout so I will be good all day!  Starting my day off with a Green Smoothie with Organic baby romaine and spinach, some blackberries (was looking for black raspberries but couldn't find them), raspberries, blueberries, banana and a little Greek yogurt. Hmmmm, maybe I'll throw a little pineapple in, too. This is the BEST tasting smoothie I've made so far.  And I remember thinking my Jr. High Home Ec teacher was cRaZy when we had to make banana milkshakes back in the late 60's early 70's!  I guess she was ahead of the curve.  Maybe NOT with her broiled oranges though! I had a turkey club on Syrian bread for lunch. I grilled some zucchini, summer squash and onions for the party. They came out great - I'll have to do more of that this summer. We had fruit salad, potato salad, kale salad, pasta salad, grilled chicken, desserts and lots of other yummy dishes that I'd been looking forward to all day.  Oh I got ...

Day #14, Sun. 7/15

Two weeks since I started my "Back on Track" lifestyle. :-)  Still down 5 pounds and feeling good! Today I ate a banana and some Ezekiel Cereal with blueberries, raspberries and almond milk. Very hot today so I caught up on my Blog postings and am ready to tackle my Boston photos now. We're havin' a Heat Wave and I'm feeling like it's too hot to cook. So I threw together a salad with organic baby romaine, cucumbers, Roma tomatoes, black olives (which I LOVE), carrots, the last of the leftover chicken and heated up the last of the leftover corn on the cob.  I went to Rite Aid to print some of my Tortola flowers to send to the National Park Service who may want to buy them from me and they were having an in-store special with a Wellness card - 15 cents each 4x6 print. Stopped for a quart of watermelon sherbet and a quart of chocolate fudge walnut at Stillwell's Riverwalk on my way home and only had a spoonful of each! :-)  Having the Alpha Xi ...

Day #13, Sat. 7/14

Well, today I was feeling it in my legs after 5 hours of walking around in the heat of the city on Friday!  Guess I could've walked a marathon (okay maybe a half marathon!) I can't really say that they hurt, just felt a l-i-t-t-l-e tight. Did a little stretching, kept up the hydration with lots of fluids, but did a semi-fast today and didn't eat until dinner time when I had left over swordfish and a salad. I got my Boston photos printed and lucky me ~ Rite Aid was having a 12 cent print sale. Along with my Wellness Card I saved a bundle!  Now I just need to catalog them and make some cards.  Planning for the Hearts & Hands Show that will be coming up in September. Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 13th for the Opening Reception from 5-8:30 p.m.. It's going to be a really good show!

Day #12 Part 2, Fri. 7/13

I met my friend Tyla and her family for lunch at Quincy Market. So good to see them in Boston although the heat and humidity were a deterrent for doing much of anything for the locals never mind  with people who are used to 75° and sunny with no humidity in L.A.!  I got a grilled lamb-kabob sandwich and another bottled water to combat dehydration in the 90° heat!  No photos of the food as we stood/sat outside and the sandwich was kind of drippy/messy, but delicious!  But I do have photos of us. :-) We spent about an hour together and after dehydrating I headed to the Boston Common and Public Gardens to take more photos. It actually turned into a three hour afternoon of photography for me. It became a little overcast so although it was hot and humid at least there was no hot sun beating down on me.  This also gave way for some great shadowless photos!  I photographed a swan and had a photo in my head that I wanted. You'll see my creation a little ...
